Our mission statement: “Safety, Respect and Choice for Women” is central to our goal of empowering women. Our vision is to be a leader in gender specialist, innovative and evidence-based services for women with complex needs. We have delivered gender-specific services to women in the ACT and surrounds since 1982.
Toora provides Homelessness, Domestic Violence and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) health treatment services to more than 500 women and children each year.
We operate our programs in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment. We create a culture of empowerment and equality. Our clients feel valued, respected and have the right to choose what is best for them. Toora offers encouragement, education and positive life skills to achieve long-term change and achievement.

Gender-specific programming provides women with decision making and life skills that empowers them to use their voice, to speak for themselves, and to recognise that they have choices.
Gender-specific programming also recognises the dangers and risks that women face because of gender.
Toora provides culturally sensitive services. We respect and value race, culture and other differences. Toora also recognises there are particular challenges faced by Indigenous women and those from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. We aim to ensure that every woman accessing our services is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of her cultural background, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religion.
Toora Women Inc. is a not-for-profit, governed by a Board and a Constitution.
